Road Trip #1: Is that colour Photoshopped?

For a whole mess of reasons, Paul and I prefer not to own a car and to make walking/cycling/bussing/Car2Go-ing (in that order) our transit options. All enviro things considered, however, most road trips have a considerably smaller carbon footprint than any trip involving air travel. So .... when my parents offered us their vehicle for the next month (while they float across the Pacific), we decided to include various short car trips in our 2014 Winter Staycation.

This morning, Freddie and I ventured out in the Mom-and-Dad-mobile to the Spanish Banks side of Pacific Spirit Park (a longish bike ride away and outside of the C2G area) for a 1-hour+ forest and beach walk. Freddie rode in the back seat, attached to his groovy new seatbelt harness. If you'd like to see our route, click here and look for the loop formed by trails 23, 21, and 1 (plus some beach walking).

In my ongoing attempt to capture the splendour of these forests, I paid special attention in many of today's shots to COLOUR. Sort of a Pacific Spirit Palette ... and, nope, no Photoshopping was involved!

Yeah, yeah, yeah ... now can we GO?!
Sheesh!

Here we are at the start of the "Spanish" trail (#23), which goes uphill alongside Spanish Bank Creek.

    1. Not so much fauna, but, considering what we might theoretically run into, that's probably a good thing!
